Benefit "They're Real" Mascara Review

There is one thing with this mascara I will never get used to; you can apply this mascara 2 ways! You can apply it the usual way, holding the want horizontally, but you can also apply it by holding it vertically!I only used one coat, and I only applied a little mascara the vertical way. The rest was applied with the normal horizontal way

Pros
-Thick and moist formula
-Doesn't Smudge

-Spreads Lashes w/o clump (if you only use 1 coat)
-Keeps lashes soft and flexible, rather than hard & stiff
-The wand easily reaches all lashes

-mascara clicks when you close it so you know its securely shut
Cons
-Hardly adds lengths
-I find that this flakes during the day and really irritates my contacts
-Doesn't give me that "falsies" look. No one has asked me if my lashes were real when I wore this! lol
-Expensive! $23
-It clumps easily, so I tend to stick with one coat
-only comes in black

Overall
Overall, would I buy this again? Mmmm no. $23 for a mascara is pricey! I do like the concept of the brush though. I'm thinking about just saving the brush when I run out of mascara and just wash it, then buy a cheaper mascara and use the wand with that :P See if that helps at all.
If you have any questions, please ask in the comments below!
Have you tried this mascara before?

  1. wow, this mascara makes your lashes look beautiful! i would have asked if they were falsies :P haha. but i think the best part of the mascara is the wand too! i dont wear this mascara when im looking for drama but for every day it does the trick. i havent ever bought the full size because i also think its really pricey. i cant wait to get this in the sephora birthday gift!

    1. I mean I do like this mascara, I just feel like there are cheaper mascaras out there that work a lot better for me! I'll have to try again when I get the birthday mini from Sephora this month. Maybe a fresh tube will sway my thoughts toward it!

  2. It looks nice on you. Definitely see the added length. I don't wear mascara cuz they don't do much for my tiny lashes.

    1. I see. Do you wear falsies for dramatic looks? I've always wanted to try false eyelashes but I have noo idea how to apply them lol!

    2. When I wear mascara, they end up looking like little insect legs, LOL. Yes if I want something dramatic, I just use falsies cause they give me instant gratification. Something mascara can't do for me. The first time I tried applying falsies, I think it took me one hour on one eye! LOL. It takes practice I suppose but after that I can do it in less than 5 min. So if you persist, you will get the hang of it too.

    3. Oh gosh, haha! I can only imagine how long it would take me to apply them! People on youtube make it look way too easy! I'll have to try sometime :)

  3. Oh I wish it worked better for you.
I really love it for my eyelashes, and I agree it's rather expensive! I haven't repurchased it again because of its price. I have been loving Revlon's Photoready 3D volume mascara, it has a similar wand to this benefit one and it works well xx

    1. Ah really?? I'll have to try the 3D mascara when I run out of the current mascara I'm using. I'm sure its a heck of a lot cheaper than the benefit mascara!
